So you want to make a margarita, but you don’t know what ingredients to use?

Well, we’re here to help.

First, you will need:

-2 oz tequila (preferably a good one)

-1 oz Cointreau

-1 oz lime juice (fresh squeezed is best)

-1/2 oz agave syrup
A margarita is a cocktail made with tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. It’s served on the rocks or blended with ice.

A classic margarita is made with 1½ ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of Cointreau or triple sec, and ¾ ounce of lime juice. A blender margarita adds crushed ice to the mix for a slushy consistency.

Margaritas can be sweetened with agave nectar, simple syrup, or sugar. They can also be salt-rimmed before serving (this is called salting the glass). If you want to make a dirty margarita, add 3 ounces of orange juice to the original recipe above for an extra kick!

The original recipe dates back to 1920s Tijuana when it was used as a cure for hangovers due to its high alcohol content from tequila.
